What's the good without the bad?

Updated: Sep 24, 2020

I found myself wondering today, what if the world was a better place to live in? Wouldn't it be great? or would it eventually turn monotonous noticing everything perfect?

2020 in numbers is yet another year, but in context the feeling is globally devastating. It's been 6 months to the start of this year, but it seems like decades have passed in this stretch and decades filled with in numerous heart- wrenching, shocking and numbing events.

It simply stuns me to think, how undesirous happenings could occur in just a span of 6 months!

I know the year has nothing to do with what happens in it, and it's unfair to blame it for the same. Rationalizing it would mean, accepting it's unfortunate timing and looking it as a burnt page in the book of life.

But the one wonderful realization that has dawned upon me after living through these months is that, at the end it does not matter the gender, sex, religion, community, country, wealth and beliefs we carry within ourselves as at the core we all are vulnerable. We are the amalgamation of characteristics which form us 'Humans'. We all feel yet differently to things, but we have adapted our primal fears.

We fear to having to live our life with lack of comfort, we fear loosing our prized possessions and above all we fear loosing ourselves from detaching ourselves from the world we have built for over the span of our life.

Thus whenever we are faced with a challenge or are posed with life difficulties, we unleash the denial mode in order to surround us with a bubble wrap of comfort. We create a makeshift platonic world for us to reside in, wondering how well it would be to live with perfection.

But would it be as wonderful as we idealize it to be?

As they say, we cannot value the good without the bad. You wouldn't truly cherish the coolness of a shade after you have been out whole day in the sharp sun.

In life too, we truly sense and feel happiness, when we have undergone the hardships of life and realized our basic human vulnerabilities, isn't it?
